The Grumpy Old Squid
A 1969 Raleigh Twenty 3-Speed that has been in my family since it was bought new in Brooklyn NY. As it sits here it is stock as I inherited it from my step-father except for a new saddle.

This came with standard 406 steel rims. I changed over to alloy rims but stayed in the 406 size. The S-A 3-speed AW hub is stamped "69 7" and I know the bike was bought in Brooklyn NY between September and December 1969.

Did this come with 451 size rims. I have a 69 non folder with 451 and the rear has a factory mis installed hop to it. A flat spot which is of course annoying. Not sure if Nottingham did it or a curb. Same bronze green color, one of my favorites.

I am doing some major modifications on it right now.
I am building new wheels using machined aluminum rims, a SA drum brake hub in front and a SA 8 speed internally geared hub in the rear.
The handlebars are a one piece configuration so if I do anything there I have to replace the stem and bars both.

Yes the handlebars and the seat post are at full extension.
I have long legs and I like riding more upright.
I am considering a new/longer seat post (400 mm) but don't know what to do about the handle bars.
The SA hub is stamped 7 69 so I am assuming (uh oh) it is a 1969 build.
My step father bought it new late that year and it is my sole inheritance from him.

Looks like full extension of the bars. Do you ride this high.? Is this a 69 ?
