Getting this set-up was easy. The instructions from S-A were dead on. The instruction sheet that came with the hub was black and white but I had to print them out from the internet in color to set the gears up correctly.

The X-RF8(W) weighs in at 1770 grams, the standard S-A 3-speed hub is about 1350 grams. That is less than a 1 pound difference between them.
The benefits of the 8 gears over the 3 gears outweighs (no pun intended) the extra weight of the 8-speed hub.

Wow, eight gears. What is the weight of the hub, 3 times the S.A. hopefully not.
