The Cursed Rear Wheel
As per my blog posting, this wheel has given me a whole pile of trouble. Hopefully all is now well, that I have got a new tyre, new tube, tyre liner made from an old tube, 4 new stainless steel spokes, and a new 16-tooth sprocket which lowers the gearing from the old 15-tooth sprocket. I now have gears of approximately 45-60-80 gear inches, which I find much more manageable for my cycling.

36 spokes would be stronger than 28 as you have also mentioned elsewhere. Original steel spokes are also stronger than stainless steel according to my local bike shop with over 30 years experience.
