The oil plug was inconveniently placed on top of the date stamp. can see part of the first number. second is a one and then 11 so I think brown is from 11 month of 71. From what I have read this means the bike is a 72?

Cream oil cap! That shows it's an early bike....my mid '74 to '77 TWENTY have the 'black cap'. [ Lucky we're not talking 'Hot Tin Roof' ] :)
It may have explained the rush to get the cap position....or simply it was 5minutes before the bell on that shift sounded!!!!

Can l be brave and suggest it was built just in time to reach the stores Christmas of '71 for a very lucky young boy or girl .....that's the dreamer in me!
