Palk strut.
The lightest, stiffest, safest route to my lofty 790 mm saddle height is to add an extension tube and supporting strut. The little strut is steel tube cut from a scrap clothes drying rack. The extension tube is Reynolds 531 steel, and was once the seat tube of a Carlton Corsair touring bike.
