by the Phantom: When I first saw this Twenty it was a real "Basket Case". I determined it would make a good parts donor since I wasn't even sure it was complete. It was dirty, rusty and had been sitting outside a foreclosed house for months, or maybe even years. When piecing it together I realized it was only missing the rear rack and air pump. Maybe it would be a good candidate for custom folder since I already had two completely stock Twentys. The rust would have to go and a complete paint job was in order! Unfortunately painting isn't my strength, so on to plan "B" which would involve only some rust removal on the frame and rebuilding everything. The rust on the frame was only on the surface so it got minimal cleaning. The chrome took lots of elbow grease and came out pretty well if I do say so myself. New tires, tubes and brake pads finished out the process. Oh, and the handgrips were Schwinn, so I had to replace them, too. The generic BMX ones will suffice for now. Not a bad bike for a parts donor!
